I was back at J In The B and since I’m no rook there, I wanted to try something new, something different. After considerable consideration, polls, in-depth analysis, surveys, and a great internal struggle, I was leaning towards the new Sirloin Burger.
My reasons for this was mostly because its picture was starring me right in the face as it had somehow conquered the largest square on the Jack In The Box drive-thru menu. It looked good. I had seen a commercial. I went for it.
So I got the Sirloin Cheese Burger with Bacon and man, this thing was hefty, much heftier than I expected from a Jack in the Box burger. It may have been one of the larger burgers I have ever eaten, in fact. I am only commenting on this because the picture on the drive-thru menu deceived me into thinking that it would be less unwieldy. However, this of course, is a good thing because the food to dollars spent ratio increases.
The 100% Sirloin patty did have a noticeably improved texture. You could taste the better quality in the sirloin patty. And the bacon was well, decent bacon. Both lettuce and pickles however, were suspect. They tasted very preserved if you know what I mean. Just watery and they were just: ugh, not great.
The only other complaint I had was that the assembly was questionable. The bacon was stacked in a thin, middle section of the burger and the lone pickle was hanging out the back with a considerable excess of lettuce. I’m not docking really any points for this as I imagine this really varies from burger to burger as this is really an issue of concentration by the Jack in the Box employee.
But other than that, the burger was good. And oh yeah, the curly fires are damn good. A lot of variety with them, but overall, damn good.
