You hear the word “Boston” and you think of the eastern seaboard of the United States. A major American port city. The salt air wafting in from the Atlantic. Something about baked beans. You hear the word “market” and you think of a bustling city street, crammed with vendors hawking their wares to passers by. Fresh vegetables, fresh fish, fresh air.
However, when you put those two words together, you get something else entirely. Is it a good thing? Watch the video review or read on, or both.
Boston Market is an enigma. And by “enigma”, I mean “not at all an enigma but I needed a good opening sentence”.
Boston Market is an interesting establishment. It purports to be “homestyle”, though it is basically the exact opposite. The food, however is very good for what it is. It’s chicken or turkey and side dishes. That’s really it. But they do it well.
The meat is pretty good, it’s moist, the gravy is delicious, and its all very savory.
The star of the show, however, is the macaroni and cheese. Somehow this plasticy yellow macaroni fills my insides with such joy. It is one of the best combinations of macaroni, and it’s counterpart cheese that I have ever tasted. I flipped out briefly while eating it because it was so good. I almost rated it “orgasmic” in the heat of the moment, but came to my senses. It is still industrial macaroni and should be considered as such, but the taste is phenomenal.
In short, give it a try.
Oh man, Boston Market. Now, Boston Market is becoming somewhat of a rare breed in that their locations are being taken by poachers. However, this is not to say that Boston Market is on the verge of extinction, oh no.
Its style and products are still fairly unique in the world of food in that it is essentially a fast food restaurant that serves Thanksgiving dinner all the time. I know what you’re thinking, and I am thinking it too: Awesome.
Here’s the thing, I am a sucker for gravy, and Boston Market’s gravy is damn good. Not the best I’ve ever had, but damn good. This makes everything that they serve better.
Now I got the “Half Chicken Meal” with sides of mashed potatoes and gravy, potatoes au gratin, and of course, cornbread. I did not expect that I would be getting a full chicken cut in half despite the glaring literal bluntness of its title.
I have to say, the chicken was moist, tender, cooked well, and overall pretty dang tasty. But what really sets BM apart is the sides. The mashed potatoes and gravy is my long time favorite and the potatoes au gratin weren’t special, but yummy nonetheless.
